Seasoned Lentils: Dal Tadka-Vegan Gluten Free

Dal Tadka is a delicious dish packed with so many nutrients! This dish is allergy friendly and vegan (no animal products). It is free of nuts, egg, gluten and soy.


According to the USDA FoodData Central, 1 cup of cooked lentils has


323 calories

17 grams of protein

15 grams of fiber


Lentils are such a great source of iron, zinc, potassium and phosphorus. I make Dal Tadka at least twice a month, even more in the cold weather months. In addition to being a nutritious dish. This is such a great recipe by Vaishali! She is the author and recipe creator of the Holy Cow Blog. This is how I make my lentils. You can change the type of lentil you use to give the dish a different flavor. You can simply eat the lentils on their own, with rice, with whole wheat Indian flatbread (rotis), naan--or my favorite, french bread topped and baked with a homemade garlic butter spread!
